The is a representation of the two afterlife scenarios depicted in the Bible. The wording at the top of the buckle is inscribed "Life" on one side of the cross and "Death" on the other. The cross itself is enamelled in red. On either side of the cross to the bottom are the words "Heaven or Hell". The buckle is made from zinc and finished in fine pewter.
